1 Report : 63 pages, single-sided, printing paper ; 28 x 21.5 cm. This plan was prepared by a Steering Committee in late 1996, with financial assistance from the Government of BC through the B.C. Heritage Trust. The committee comprised of representatives from the Heritage Advisory Committee, Langley Heritage Society, Alder Grove Heritage Society, and Township of Langley staff. The plan was intended to provide a guide for future heritage conservation work in the township. The report (1) reviews the historical context and heritage resources of the community (including an appendix listing heritage-designated buildings and locations); (2) develops a mission statement, goals and objectives for heritage management; (3) builds on past cooperative practices between the community and government bodies; (4) identifies the roles of government agencies and community organizations; (5) makes 15 core recommendations to deal with heritage issues; and (6) provides a work program to implement the heritage management plan. This report would be of interest to those studying the history of cultural heritage management in the Township of Langley as well as the greater southern BC area, and the history of local municipal planning.
