Description

A red hardcover book titled "Jean Val Jean." The front cover has a golden embossed stamp on the bottom right of the cover which reads "Clarke Irwin Canadian Classics," printed around an image of a candle stick. The spine reads "Jean Val Jean" and "Cleaver" in gold. "29 I" is written in black felt on the spine. The pages have yellowed with age. A sticker on the back of the cover reads "Rondy Robb (?)/ Room 7/ Year 1967-68." A blue ink stamp is visible behind the sticker that reads "Langley Central School," indicating these books were used in other schools around the district. This edition dates to 1965, but it was first published in 1935. It has black and white photos of people dressed up as the characters. It is 119 pages long.

Aldergrove Elementary School

Aldergrove Elementary School, formerly located at 27032 Fraser Highway, was built in 1913, but was officially opened February 1914. It was originally a two-room school. In the 1940s the school population grew and the basement was used for extra rooms before three rooms were added in 1948. At one point, the school had grades 1-8. It was added to again in 1962-64, 1967-8, and 1984. The school had a facelift to recreate the original exterior in 2000. The school was demolished in December 2015 to make way for the Aldergrove Credit Union Community Centre.

Langley Central School

This building was originally Langley High School. It later became Langley Central School, before finally being Langley Central Fundamental School. It burned down in the 1990s.
