salishan Place by the River currently maintains a collection of over 9000 photographs, 2000 archival documents, 9000 objects, 500 works of art, and 300 oral history recordings. This collection, spanning hundreds of years, is a wonderful window on the past and present life of our community.

Blair, Elizabeth (nee Culbert)

Elizabeth Blair (nee Culbert) was born in 1877. She married George Irvine Blair on March 24, 1897. The had children Robert George and Margaret Ellen.

Blair, George Irvine

George came to BC from the north of Ireland in 1886. He homesteaded a farm in Langley in the Coghlan area of Langley, but spent many years working in the Cariboo, running Hat Creek House and Hat Creek Ranch with his wife, Elizabeth Culbert, who he married in 1897. In 1902 George and Elizabeth returned to Langley and George purchased a farm on what is now 216th Street from his father-in-law, Thomas Culbert, and they developed a dairy farm. Culbert had purchased the farm in 1880 and the Blair family continued to own the farm until 2006. George was the father of William "Bill" Crozier Blair, later a mayor of the Township of Langley. George died in Milner on February 26, 1933 at the age of 69.

Blair, Margaret

Margaret Ellen Blair's nickname was "Nellie." She was the daugher of George Irvine Blair and Elizabeth Blair (nee Culbert).

Blair, Robert George (Bob)

Son of George Irvine Blair and Elizabeth Blair (nee Culbert). Robert George Blair was born on 25 April, 1898. He died on 9 November, 1977. Robert was interviewed by the museum in 1976. His interview can be found at SR-011 and SR-012 and SR-021

Granger, Caroline (nee Culbert)

Caroline Culbert was born to parents Thomas and Ellen Culbert in Langley on July 12, 1881 near where the Langley airport is now located. She had four sisters and four brothers. She was baptized at St. John the Divine Anglican Church on July 9, 1882. She married Walter Harry Granger and had at least one child, a son named Walter. She passed away in Vancouver on September 26, 1962 at the age of 81.

Greenwood, Alice (nee Blair)

Alice Greenwood (nee Blair) was the daughter of Elizabeth (nee Culbert) and George Irvine Blair.

Lee, Jessie (nee Blair)

Jessie Lee (nee Blair) was the daughter of Elizabeth Blair (nee Culbert) and George Irvine Blair. Married to Ormsby Lee.
