The print depicts the ceremony held at Fort Langley Hudson's Bay Company fur trading post on November 19, 1858 during which English law was proclaimed for the Colony of British Columbia (formerly New Caledonia). Governor Douglas is pictured here with First Nations chiefs in front of the Fort. The print is signed "Franklin Arbuckle,". The print is in a brown wood frame with painted silver trim. It has a glass covering. On the back is written "Curator - Norman 1975. Anonymous Pickup".
