8 Photographs were lent to the Museum for scanning, and then the others were later scanned and given to the Museum by Warren Sommer with the permission of Mr. Straw. William Henry and Elizabeth Straw (nee Payne) settled in the Willoughby area. They had three children : Kathleen (b. 1913), Richard (Dick), and Wilfred. The family lived at 20819 85th Avenue in Willoughby, where the overpass now is (2004). Kathleen married John Ellens. Richard worked at the Seal-Kap Dairy during the 1940s.

Johnson, Alice

Alice Johnson (1933-) is the daughter of Margaret Sophia and Eskil Kilian Johnson of the Willoughby area of Langley. She is a lifelong Willoughby resident. She is also an avid volunteer and a member of multiple groups and societies, including the Willoughby Community Hall and Willoughby School Committees, the Township’s Heritage Advisory Committee, Langley Heritage Society, Douglas Day Committee, Pitch-In B.C., and the Langley Centennial Museum's History Group. In 1992, she began the Willoughby Women’s Community Institute. She is secretary of the Willoughby Community Hall Society, and has been since 1992. She was also chairperson for the restoration of the original Willoughby Elementary School, which was slated for demolition but has been preserved as a heritage building. Johnson was awarded the Eric Flowerdew Volunteer Award in 2017 for her volunteer efforts. At Douglas Day on November 19, 2019, Alice Johnson was given the Freedom of the Township.

Straw Family

William Henry and Elizabeth Straw (nee Payne) settled in the Willoughby area. They had three children : Kathleen (b. 1913), Richard (Dick), and Wilfred. The family lived at 20819 85th Avenue in Willoughby, where the overpass now is (2004). Kathleen married John Ellens. William Henry Straw died January 9, 1960, at the age of 78, in Murrayville. Elizabeth also died in Murrayville September 17, 1972, at the age of 89. Kathleen died in Murrayville on November 20, 1976, at the age of 61. As of 2005, Richard is still living in Langley, and Wilfred lives in the Valley as well.

Willoughby United Church

The Willoughby United Church was built in 1931 and closed in 1964. The church was built by volunteer labour under the direction of Jack Bray. The location was 8263 - 208 Street. The church later became a residence.
