A small square grass and cedar basket (item a) with a grass lid (item b). The basket is woven with different types of grasses including sea, chi’tapt (sharp or swamp), or toq-toq (three-corner). The basket was woven using a wrapped twining technique. The rim of the basket has cedar lining and the base of the basket uses a cedar plaited weave.
The grasses are coloured with synthetic aniline dye.
The basket was likely created by a Nuu-chah-nulth (Nootka) or Makah maker.
