Black and white photograph of the new Harvest Queen, Joan Greenwood of Fort Langley, being crowned at the beginning of the Langley Fall Fair. The crowning took place in the Langley High School auditorium, and was done by the 1954 Harvest Princess Shirley Hansen, as the 1954 Queen Kay Barichello was unavailable. Joan went on to be named Miss PNE and Miss BC Lions in September 1956. Joan and Shirley are standing nearly perpendicular to the photographer, to the right of centre in the photograph. Beside Joan on her left is a microphone on a metal stand. Shirley is putting the crown on Joan's head. Beside them in the background are young girls and a young boy, and another young woman who is looking up at the two and smiling. In the background to the right of Shirley two people are seated: Mr. John Harrower and Mrs. Annie Medd. In front of the Queen and Princess are bouquets. The Queen and Princess are wearing light coloured dresses, which have been drawn on in grey ink (likely so there will be more contrast when the photograph was used for the newspaper).
