Black and white newspaper with eight columns across, folded horizontally in half at the middle. There are two sheets, printed on both sides, making up the newspaper. This paper is “THE DAILY BRITISH COLONIST,” which is printed in a black serif font across the top of the first page. Below that inside two black line borders is the information “VOL. 15 VICTORIA, V.I. [Vancouver Island], TUESDAY MORNING, JANUARY 16, 1866 NO. 30.” The columns contain notices and advertisements, including: advertisements for pills, liquor and cigar stores, dance halls, theatres, violin lessons, shares in coal mining, dissolutions of business partnerships, houses to let, a lost dog, information for subscribing to the newspaper, steamship travel to San Francisco, attempting to find a man who has stolen eyeglasses, attempting to find a man whose whereabouts are unknown, and attempting to find a boat that has been stolen. There are very few illustrations, although some advertisements, such as one for Lea and Perrin’s Worcestershire sauce, have depictions of their product.
