One small silver meat token, distributed by the Reichenbach Meat Market Company Limited of New Westminster, BC. This token was used in 1897 when money was very scarce. The farmer would slaughter a beef cow, and keeping what he could use, he would take the rest of it to the Meat Market. The butcher would then give the exchange tokens to the farmer who in turn would take them back to the market when he was in need of meat. This token was worth $1.00. One side reads "REICHENBACH CO. LTD. NEW WESTMINSTER, B.C." around the edges, with "MEAT/ MARKET" in the centre. The other side reads "1.00."
