A light brown encyclopedia titled "Revised Encyclopædia Britannica." The front and back covers have a band of patterned illustration running next to the spine. In the centre of the band is a circle containing an illustration of a vessel with a spout and a handle with steam coming out. At the very top the front cover reads, "Household Educational Serious. No.13. October 6, 1891. Published weekly. Subscription price, 825 per year. Entered at the Chicago post-office as second-class matter." Below in larger sizes and styles of font the cover reads "Revised Encyclopædia Britannica / Adapted from the Ninth Edition Encyclopaedia Britannica / for the use of / American Readers / To which is added about four thousand / Biographies of Distinguished People / Chicago. Educational Publishing Co." The spine of the book indicates that this is the "Vol. XIII.", "Mal - Nav" part of the series. The back cover is nearly identical to the front, with the exception of the exclusion of the first small text at the top.
