salishan Place by the River currently maintains a collection of over 9000 photographs, 2000 archival documents, 9000 objects, 500 works of art, and 300 oral history recordings. This collection, spanning hundreds of years, is a wonderful window on the past and present life of our community.

Description

A cream coloured soft cover book titled "The MacLean Method of Writing." The cover is cream coloured with a black triangular pattern. The title "The MacLean Method of Writing by H. B. MacLean" is printed in beige lettering across the front. Below in black letters it reads "Teachers' Complete Manual." The book has a wrinkled texture. The spine is black and the back has "800. June, 1961" in small black letters at the very bottom.

Aldergrove Elementary School

Aldergrove Elementary School, formerly located at 27032 Fraser Highway, was built in 1913, but was officially opened February 1914. It was originally a two-room school. In the 1940s the school population grew and the basement was used for extra rooms before three rooms were added in 1948. It was added to again in 1962-64, 1967-8, and 1984. The school had a facelift to recreate the original exterior in 2000. The school was demolished in December 2015 to make way for the Aldergrove Credit Union Community Centre. At one point, the school had grades 1-8.
