Simonds, R. Hazelette, Lieut.

Robert Hazelette Simonds was born on July 9th, 1896 in Murrayville. His father was Thomas H. Simonds. He served in World War I (regiment number 411056) with the 38th Battalion in France. He enlisted in Vancouver on March 17th, 1915. On December 21 1916, he was granted a commission as lieutenant and posted to Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry (P.P.C.L.I.) He was killed in action on April 9, 1917 and was buried in La Chaudiere Military Cemetery in Pas de Calais, France.
