Title
The Albion ferry crossing in the ice on the Fraser River.
Date
[between 1970 and 1975].
Description
The Albion ferry crossing in the ice on the Fraser River.
People/Subject
Albion Ferry (boat)
The ferry crossing between Fort Langley and Albion (Maple Ridge) was opened to the public in June 1957. Local sometimes MPs Alex Hope and J.J. McLellan fought for the ferry, and although originally a bridge was hoped for, it is believed that the bridge was built out towards Harridon instead because of political powers at the time. Members of the local Board of Trade, including Don and Charlie Reid and Roy Seney, also fought for the ferry.
