Fort Langley-Albion Ferry Crossing
The Fort Langley - Albion Ferry Crossing was established in 1957 to permit vehicular traffic to cross the Fraser River. As early as 1924 Langley residents had filed a petition to council for a ferry across the river; there was later some movement on this but then project stalled. Local sometimes MPs Alex Hope and J.J. McLellan fought for the ferry, and although originally a bridge was hoped for, it is believed that the bridge was built out towards Harrison instead because of political powers at the time. Members of the local Board of Trade, including Don and Charlie Reid and Roy Seney, also fought for the ferry. The route was tolled until 1972. This ferry route stopped running on July 31, 2009, after the completed construction of the Golden Ears Bridge in June 2009.
