John Blacklock was born in England on Januay 24, 1851. He married Mary Barnes. John had worked as a medical doctor in England before "retiring" and moving to Canada with his wife and grown children Rachel, Mabel, Colin, Alan, Kenneth, Harold, and Marion in 1910. They first lived Vancouver before settling on 40 acres in Langley Prairie to the west of the Harrisons property, previously owned by the Doyles, in 1913. The Blacklocks ran a dairy farm, but three sons (Colin, Harold, and Kenneth) all left to serve in the First World War, while Alan stayed behind to help run the farm. Luckily, all three returned. John continued farming until he was 89 years old, passing away in New Westminster at the age of 93 on August 4, 1944.

Mary Barnes was born on April 24, 1855 in England. She married Dr. John Blacklock. The Blacklocks came to Canada with their grown children Rachel, Mabel, Colin, Alan, Kenneth, Harold, and Marion in 1910.
