Description

A black textured hardcover notebook with a blank plain front cover. It was used as the Sperling School PTA Minute Book between October 17, 1952 and May 10, 1958 and the lined pages have minutes taken in them in black or blue ink. The secretary's name for each meeting is noted.

Sperling School

The area, originally called Harmsworth, was named after R. H. Sperling. Sperling was the general manager of the BC Electric Railway from 1905-1914. The BCER had a station where the Interurban line crosses 240th (Brown Road). The school, located at 74th Avenue and 240th Street, opened in the school year of 1923-4. The first modernization of the school came in 1934. More changes came in 1954, 1955 and 1957. The school closed in the early 1980’s.
