Chadwick, Frederick John
Frederick John Chadwick was a Native Son, born in Harrison Mills, B.C. on April 21, 1902. His family moved west and he was educated at Grandview School and Britannia High School in Vancouver. Frederick married Agnes Mary J Humphrys on June 27, 1928 in Maple Ridge. The couple had four children: Diana (Sendall), Dona, Ann (Stefenson), and Barry. Frederick went to work in the lumbering industry at various mills throughout B.C., coming to Langley from Powell River in 1941. At this time he bought what was known as Langley Sawmills Ltd. with W.A. (Bill) McLellan. He retired from the sawmill in 1953 and took up a sash and door business in Newton for a few years. He was a president of the Fort Langley Board of Trade and the Progressive Conservative Association. He resided in Langley until 1983, when he moved to Coquitlam. He died at Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster on June 13, 1984.
