Description
Wooden box (a), covered on the top and front side in ornately decorated paper with floral designs in red, yellow and green; has keyhole on front side (no key has been accessioned); the lid is hinged so that the box opens; inside is covered in light pink paper; the box contains a small child's sewing machine (b); the machine is black metal painted with gold and green paint in leafy designs; the plate above which the sewing needle is positioned is silver metal, engraved with an eagle spreading its wings, beneath which is written "MADE IN GERMANY"; the inner side of the box lid contains small elastic loops for holding sewing machine's clamp (c); there are small wooden pieces (d-f) which form a compartment in the box; the outer bottom of the box is covered in light blue paper, on which is written "Stay Out/ Ordered by/ Jacqueline/ Maureen/ Nurse".

Martin, Jacqueline (nee Nurse)
Jacqueline (Jackie) Maureen Nurse was born to parents Walter and Doris Nurse in Vancouver on May 6, 1939, but was raised in Langley. She had two sisters, Maxine and Dixie, and a brother named Kenneth. The family lived at 5483 203rd Street, and Jackie attended Langley Prairie School during the 1940s. She worked for BC Tel, like her father, and married a Mr. Martin. They had two daughters. Jackie passed away on December 7, 1997.
