People/Subject
Pepin, Thomas Alfred, b.1878
Thomas A. Pepin was born in Arnprior, Ont., in 1878 and moved to Vancouver, B.C., with his parents (Joseph S. Pepin, 1844-1916, and Malinda (Charbonneau) Pepin, 1856-1916) in 1886. In 1888, the family purchased a 142-acre farm at Burton Prairie (Dewdney), B.C., which was lost to flood in 1894. They then moved to Hall's Prairie, B.C., where Thomas was the first to start a general store. He subsequently moved to Langley's Campbell Valley area in 1917, purchasing two 160-acre parcels of land originally owned by Fay and Merrill. He and his wife Lucy Annand ran a small dairy farm, but poor soil and a lack of adequate water supplies resulted in their moving to Aldergrove in 1929.
