The spine reads "Canadian Notary / Russell" in gold. The inside title page reads, in various sizes and styles of font, "Office and Practice / of a / Notary of Canada / (excepting Province of Quebec) / by / Bernard Wallace Russell / B.A., LL.B. / Of the Bar of Nova Scotia ; Lectuer on Office Practice in the Faculty of Dalhousie University, Halifax, N.S / Toronto : The Carswell Company, Limited / 1916 / London: Sweet & Maxwell, Limited" This book belonged to George F. Young. The book is inscribed on the inside front page "Geo. F. Young,/ Fort Langley/ B.C./ 1917." It has 484 pages.
Folded between the pages are three documents: 1) A bookmark marked "compliments of / G.Y. Timms / Printer / Langley Prairie / British Columbia." On the back is has the multiplication and division table. 2) A heavy piece of paper that is an ad for "The Clarke & Stuart Co., LTD." 3) A glossy piece of paper that is an ad for "The Society of Notaries Public of B.C." It has a black and white drawing of a man in robes handing another man a scroll, followed by a paragraph describing how trustworthy a notary is.
