Description
Photograph album, gray/green, with embossed flowers on the front cover, green braided cord keeping the album together, and "Elsie A. Roblin Stockton Cal" written inside the front cover. The photo album was compiled by Elsie Roblin with photos taken from her 1911 trip to Vancouver to attend the wedding of her second cousin, Percival Garrett Sills, who co-owned the mill for the Salmon River Lumber Company in Sperling (Langley). The album contains 13 photos (2025.004.002-014) which depict the lumber mill and the wedding of Percival Garrett Sills to Sophie Laidley Deane.

Roblin, Elsie Augusta
Elsie Augusta Roblin (September 13, 1886-February 9, 1950) was born in Stockton, California, daughter of Robert and Sarah Roblin who were from Ontario. Elsie was second cousins with Percival Garrett Sills, who was the co-owner of the Salmon River Lumber Company which was located in Sperling (on the Salmon River near 232 Street). Elise visited Vancouver and Langley in August 1911 at the age of 24 and was a school teacher in California.
Salmon River Lumber Company
Charles Hubert Williams and his family cleared land and farmed in the Sperling district, B.C., after 1889. The family built a sawmill, known as the Salmon River Lumber Company, on the area now called Williams Park at Sperling, BC., in 1904-06.
