Timms Family
George Young Timms was born in England in 1842. He moved to Langley with wife Harriet Hadiah (nee Harris) (1844-1929) in 1911 with their (adult) five sons and two daughters : Fred, Arthur, Vivian, Edward, Phillip, Esther and Gertrude. They built a large craftsman style house just south of the B.C.E.R. Station on Langley Prairie (site of today's City Hall on Douglas Crescent and Topping Road - 204th Street - 2005). The family was very influential in early Langley Prairie, starting two short lived newpapers (Langley Journal and Langley Press), two feed operations, the Timms Market Garden Co., a printing business, a large theatre in the Theatre block, a cafe, and a confectionary.
