Bowling, Donald
Donald William Bowling was born to parents Frank and Nellie Bowling on Nov. 20, 1924 at Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster. He grew up in Fort Langley, and served during WWII with the Winnipeg Rifles. He became the Fort Langley Postmaster in 1952, and remained in the position for 36 years. He married Kathy Carson, and the couple had four children: Maureen (b.1955), Donna (b. 1956), John, and Sheila. Don passed away October 19, 1994, and was buried in the Fort Langley Cemetery.
Bowling, Kathleen Elizabeth (nee Carson)
Kathleen Elizabeth Carson was born on May 13, 1930 in Alberta and lived in Warspite until she was 10 years old. She moved to Fort Langley with her family in 1940. She married Don Bowling, the postmaster for 36 years, on June 23, 1952. They had four children: Maureen, Donna (b. May 28, 1956), John, and Sheila. Kathy passed away on May 14, 2006.
Klondike (Klondyke) Nights
Klondike Nights (often "Klondyke" or sometimes "Nite") was an annual celebration from the late 1940s to late 1950s. The celebration took place in October each year at the Fort Langley Community Hall and welcomed a dance floor and skits, along with novelty booths and bingo. The event was sponsored by all the organizations in the community. Proceeds went to various fundraising efforts, including starting of the Langley Centennial Museum. Kelsey Moore and Roy Seney was a major organizer of the event.
Ushaw, Shirley (Halliday)
Shirley Ushaw was the youngest child of Margaret Mildred and Thomas Ushaw. Her sister Marjorie Waska ran Waska's Store in Fort Langley. She married Herb Halliday.
