Description
Black pot with handle and a lid. The pot belonged to Mrs. Monahan, who was known as "Grandma Monahan" by the donor's family, the Halfpennys. "Grandma Monahan" was Ellen Monahan (nee Nelson), born in 1858.

Monahan, Mary Ellen (nee Nelson) (1858-1939)
Ellen Monahan (nee Nelson) was born in 1858 to parents Johnston K. Nelson and Margaret Nelson (nee Armstrong), later of Murrayville. Her siblings include Margaret Mutrie (nee Nelson), Annie, Lottie, David, William, James and Mathew. Ellen married Robert Monahan. She died in 1939.
*Alternative death date of 1944 is given in the book 1990 and Counting on pg. 75 (MacKinnon) / Either Waite or MacKinnon seems to have reversed the death dates for Ellen and Robert Monahan.
