Description

Program: trifold program on cardstock; the front panel contains the coat of arms of the TOL, the date of the event, the names of the awards being presented and the phrase "Program Thursday, April 7, 2016" on a white background; a multicolored line with a slight curve separates the title "2016 Annual Volunteer Appreciation & Awards Evening" and a red flower on a light-green background; the inside flap contains a photo and biography of the namesakes of the awards; the first inside panel contains the names on the awards and the recipients of said awards on a light-green background, there is a red flower at the top of the panel; the second and third panels contain the names and photos of the award recipients, the phrase "Volunteers give without expecting anything in return, think of others first, and make the world a better place for all of us. Volunteers are the heart of our community." is at the bottom of the panels; the back panel contains the name of the hosts, an itinerary and a note regarding the musical entertainment (Langley Community Music School Faculty Trio).

Township of Langley

The Township of Langley, B.C., comprising Langley, Fort Langley, Murrayville, Langley Prairie, Derby, Milner, Aldergrove, Otter, Salmon River Uplands, and Glen Valley, was incorporated in 1873. The City of Langley, B.C., covering the Langley Prairie region, was incorporated as a separate entity in 1955. Langley was named after Thomas Langley, a prominent stockholder in the management of the Hudson's Bay Company. He had inherited his brother's stock in the Company in 1793 and was selected as a member of the committee in 1807. He held this position until his death in 1829.
