Description

Honour roll certificate for Phyllis May McKee, given by the Public Schools of British Columbia for Phyllis holding first rank in “Deportment.” The certificate explains she is a student at Springbrook School, and is signed by her teacher, Florence E. Cassidy. The printed elements of the certificate are in blue ink, and there is a decorative border surrounding the text, and the coat of arms of British Columbia at the top. The handwritten elements are in black ink.

Springbrook School (Harmsworth Hall)

Springbrook School is now known as Harmsworth Hall. The school opened in 1923 and was purchased by the Springbrook Social and Improvement Society in 1935. The Hall sat on two acres which were donated by the Titmus family for the Springbrook School.
Marv Woolley recalls his mother and uncle, Bert Williams, both attended the school. Uncle Bert recalled going to that school as far back as 1896. Lawrence Alsager and the Marv Woolley removed the top layer of the fir flooring during the 1978 renovations and discovered the original school floor. They saw the patterns of the wood stove, teacher's desk, student desks, etc.
