Ziegler, Harriet Louise
Harriet Louise Bowell was born in about 1910. She was the great granddaughter of Canada's fifth Prime Minister, McKenzie Bowell. Her father was the Bowell of Bowell MacLean (BowMac Motors), the Vancouver landmark. Harriet married Fritz Ziegler on September 22, 1943, and the couple lived at property purchased by Ziegler in 1939 on Rawlison Cres. in Fort Langley. Fritz worked over the years to make a two story farmhouse on the site into a castle, naming it Schloss Klipphaus after a castle built by one of his forefathers in 1528 near Dresden, Germany. The house also became known as Monk's Hall, due to the number of concrete monks that adorn the front entrance. After Harriet passed away on March 8, 1971, Fritz married her sister, Nancy Bowell.
