Mufford, Albert Edward (Eddie)
Albert Edward (Eddie) Mufford was born in Milner on July 21, 1892, to parents Thomas Prior and Millicent (nee Udy) Mufford. Eddie married Matilda (Tillie) Ellen Mountain on April 26, 1922. They had two children, William (Bill) and Patricia. One of the Mufford Bros., Eddie raised registered Holsteins. He was an original member of the Fraser Valley Milk Producers' Assoc., and later became a farm machinery agent, even inventing a couple of innovative new pieces of farm machinery. Eddie died at Langley Memorial Hospital on November 16, 1956, at the age of 63, and is buried at Fort Langley Cemetery.
Mufford, Annie
Annie Mufford (nee Mufford) was born October 3, 1872 to Thomas Prior and Millicent (nee Udy) Mufford. When she was roughly a year old, her family moved from Cornwall, England, to Ontario, and lived there a few years before moving to Nanaimo, B.C. for about a year. The family then moved to Langley, taking up land in the Milner area. Annie married her cousin, William John Mufford, on April 17, 1895. They had three sons, William Delbert Vernon (Vern), Norbert (Norman?) Drew, and Lloyd Winston Mufford, as well as two daughters, Annie Rosalind (Rossi) Heale and Olivia Rosalie, who died as an infant in 1895. Annie was very active in the Milner United Church. She died in Milner on June 16, 1942 at the age of 69, and is buried in the Fort Langley Cemetery.
Mufford, Charles Thomas
Charles Thomas Mufford was born in Ontario in roughly 1876, soon after his family's arrival from Cornmall, England. The family moved to Naniamo, B.C., when Charles was 7 years old, and a year later they settled in Langley. On November 5, 1898, he married Emily Grace Williams (of the Williams Park family). They had three sons, Ralph Delmer, Oliver Garfield, and Thomas, and one daughter, Merle Woszczynski. Charles served as a councillor for seven years and acted as a school trustee and a reeve for a short term. He was a director of the Langley Agriculture Association and an arbitrator in ditches and watercourses disputes. He died suddenly May 11, 1938, at the age of 62, while coming down the stairs in his house in the morning. The week before he had had a fainting spell, but had seemed to fully recover.
Mufford, Frederick William (Fred)
Frederick William Mufford was born in 1880 to Thomas Prior and Millicent (nee Udy) Mufford in Ontario. The family had moved to Ontario from Cornwall, England in 1873. In about 1883 the family moved west, living in Nanaimo for a roughly year before settling in the Milner area of Langley. Fred never married. He ran the Milner General Store in the 1920s and was active with his brothers Harry and Eddie in machinery and general farming activities. These were the original Mufford Bros. who raised a large Holstein herd, the largest in the Holstein-Friesian Assoc. of Canada, that was dispersed in the early 1930s. Fred died June 11, 1957 at the age of 77, and is buried in the Fort Langley Cemetery.
Mufford, Henry (Harry) Gendle
Henry (Harry) Gendle Mufford was born in Milner on December 1, 1888 to parents Thomas Prior and Millicent (nee Udy) Mufford. He lived on the farm he was born on for his entire life. Harry married Ellen Prior Goldney in New Westminster on December 7, 1915. The couple had four daughters, Mrs. Stella Long, Mrs. Althea Plowe, Mrs. Myrtle Cumming, and Mrs. R. S. (Freida) Lynch. Harry was one of the Mufford Bros. that raised large show herds of Holsteins, and became known for is prize-winning potatoes. He operated one of the largest farm machinery agencies in the Fraser Valley for more than 35 years, and in 1941 he had the first combine on his farm to be seen in the Langley area. Harry died October 8, 1970, at the age of 81.
Mufford, John Hicks
John Hicks Mufford, born in 1870, is the son of Thomas Prior Mufford and Millicent Mufford. He married Elizabeth Ruth (Ruth) Harding on November 2, 1893. They had five children: Leonard Hicks, Albert Percival (Percy), Wallace Victor, John Reginald (Reg), and Aurelia Olive (Relly). John died on April 25, 1946.
Mufford, William Arthur
William Arthur Mufford was born in Nanaimo in about 1885 to parents Thomas Prior and Millicent (nee Udy) Mufford. The family originated in Cornwall, England, but moved to Ontario in 1873 for several years before moving to Nanaimo for a year or two, and then settling permanently in the Milner area. Arthur married and had three children, Garnet W., Herbert A., and Aleda Viola Mufford. He died in Milner on June 9, 1933, at the age of 48, and is buried in Fort Langley Cemetery.
