Beales, John Huson
John H. Beales was born July 25, 1924 in Winnipeg and moved to Langley in 1933. He graduated from Langley High School in 1942 and joined the RCAF. He returned after the war and married Marjorie Graham. They had 8 children: John, Bob, Ann, Ted, Ian, Bruce, Barry, and Russell. A local businessman, John was a School Board Trustee, an Alderman in the late 1970s - 1980s, and served two terms as Mayor of the Township of Langley from 1987 to 1993. He was an accomplished pilot. John died in 2003.

Searle, Aubrey
Aubrey Searle was a B.C. Hydro employee. He was elected to fill the remaining 20 month term of Bob McClelland's term as alderman on city council in 1973. He was mayor of Langley City from 1981 to 1982, and served as an alderman from 1986 - 1993. He had three children.
Township of Langley
The Township of Langley, B.C., comprising Langley, Fort Langley, Murrayville, Langley Prairie, Derby, Milner, Aldergrove, Otter, Salmon River Uplands, and Glen Valley, was incorporated in 1873. The City of Langley, B.C., covering the Langley Prairie region, was incorporated as a separate entity in 1955. Langley was named after Thomas Langley, a prominent stockholder in the management of the Hudson's Bay Company. He had inherited his brother's stock in the Company in 1793 and was selected as a member of the committee in 1807. He held this position until his death in 1829.
