Embossed into the photograph are the words "The Progress Studio/ 610 GRANVILLE ST./ VANCOUVER, B.C." There is a circular pin on Bill's left jacket lapel.

Spence, William (Bill)

William "Bill" Spence was born in Langley in 1898 to parents Peter and Jane Spence. He served with the 72nd Division Seaforth Highlanders in World War I, and returned to Coghlan in 1919. He met Florence Mouncer in London during the War, and wrote her letters to convince her to come to Langley. She did, and they married in 1920. The couple had three children: Ernest, Bill, and Julia. They moved from the family farm to Telegraph Trail, before settling on Armstrong Road. Bill earned his living through fishing and logging. Bill died in 1970.
