People/Subject
Cameron, Mitchell
Cameron Mitchell was born in Ontario in 1884. His father came to Langley in 1887 and homesteaded near Livingstone. Later the family lived for a time in Langley Prairie. As a young boy Mitchell hurt one arm in a shotgun accident. When he grew up Mitchell drove a milk wagon for a time, and he worked on the farm of Hugh Davidson and Mr. Riddell, and later Charley Jack's farm. Later he joined a survey crew to lay out the Eastern Railway. He was able to join the War in 1918, but never made it to the front lines on account of his bad arm. He then became a logger. During the Second World War he cut wood for aeroplane plywood. In 1942 he married Edith Cope. The two had three daughters and lived at Crescent Beach. Later in life he was known to be a good dancer, in particular his waltz was excellent. The couple moved to White Rock. He died on October 12th 1977 at the age of 93.
