Description

The Mackie House in Fort Langley with surrounding property. The house was located on the Salmon River, and part of it can be seen in the photo. Photograph taken by Percy Primrose and was probably used as a postcard; the text "View at Mackie's Bridge, Langley, B. C." can be read along the bottom from the left. The house burned down in 1917.

Mackie House (The Grange)

The James W. Mackie House was built between 1870 and 1880. This first house burnt down soon after, after Ann Mackie lit a fire in the fireplace with an overheated stovepipe and burnt down the house. The property of the Mackie house was also known as "The Grange," and it was on the Salmon River, on the west side of Glover Road coming up into the village of Fort Langley.

Primrose, Percy B. (photographer)

Percy Bouverie Primrose born in about 1880. He was a photographer and studio owner in Fort Langley. Percy was the brother of Ralph Gore Primrose, who married Agatha Vera Coulter. Percy married Ellen (Nell) Harper Jolley on October 20, 1911 in Vancouver. Percy died on February 24, 1960, in Vancouver, at the age of 80.
