Description
The Bowling family during a wedding reception for Ross and Lois Bowling. They were married on July 1, 1944, in England. This appears to be a later reception at the Fort Langley Community Hall. (L-R): Susannah Bowling, Frank Bowling, Nellie Bowling, Ross Bowling, Lois Bowling, Tom/Don? Bowling, Gwen (nee Bowling) and Bob Brown. (Gwen and Bob were married Nov. 4, 1944, so this could be after that).

Bowling, Barbara Lois (nee Cross)
Barbara Lois Cross was from Sheffield, England. She met a young Canadian airman named Frank Ross Bowling when he was serving overseas, and the two were married in Sheffield on July 1, 1944. Lois came back to Canada with Ross and the couple settled in Fort Langley. They had two children, Malcolm Ian (b. 1948) and Gloria Carol (b. 1955). Lois was active with St. George's Anglican Church.
Bowling, Frank (1895-1959)
Frank Bowling was born in 1895 to parents William and Susannah Bowling in Stratford, Ontario. In 1906 the family moved to Edmonton. Frank served in WWI and was injured 11 days before the war ended in 1918, and spent a year in hospital where he had to learn how to walk again. After returning home, he moved to B.C. to marry the widow of his brother, William Henry. He married Nellie Subrina Bowling (nee Ross) on May 4, 1920. The couple had four children: Frank Ross, Gwendolyn Roberta, Donald William, and Thomas Hugh. Frank bought his Fort Langley farm, known as Fern Hill Farm, with the soldier settlement he received through Veterans Affairs. In 1937 Frank's father William passed away, so the family returned to Edmonton while renting their farm at Fort Langley. They returned in 1940. During WWII Frank worked as a steam fitter at the shipyards in North Vancouver. From 1946-1948 Frank was the president of the Farmers' Institute, but in 1948 a serious tractor accident laid him up for several months. Frank died on May 31, 1959.
Bowling, Frank Ross
Frank Ross Bowling was the son of Frank and Nellie Bowling (nee Ross), born Dec. 17, 1921, at Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster. Ross served overseas with the RCAF as a wireless air gunner during WWII. There he met and married (Lois) Barbara Lois Cross on July 1, 1944. They had two children, Malcolm Ian (b. 1948) and Gloria Carol (b. 1955). Ross purchased the 40 acres next to his dad's farm (on 96th Ave.) from the Robinson family. Ross was the president of the Langley Farmers' Institute in 1953. Ross died on November 28, 2000, at Langley Memorial Hospital.
Bowling, Nellie Subrina (nee Ross)
Nellie Subrina Ross was born in 1893. She married William Henry Bowling in 1915. He died in 1918. When his brother Frank returned from the war, he married Nellie in 1920. The couple settled in Fort Langley with their four children: Frank Ross (b. 1921), Gwen (b. 1923), Donald (b. 1924) and Tom (b. 1927). The family returned to Edmonton, where the Bowlings were from, in 1938. They returned to Langley in the early 1940s Nellie died in 1985.
Bowling, Susannah
Susannah Brown was born in 1868 in Sheffield, England. She married William Bowling of Doncaster, England on December 25, 1889. The immigrated to Stratford, Ontario in 1890. Here they raised five children, WIlliam Henry, John, Frank, Walter and Gladys. In 1906 the family moved west to Edmonton. Here they were known for their bees. Susannah died in 1947.
Brown, Milton Ainsley (1922-1987)
Milton Ainsley (Bob) Brown was born Feb. 24, 1922, to parents William Harvey (Billy) and Ann Elizabeth Brown (nee Medd). He married Gwendolyn Bowling in 1939, and they had two children, Terry and Robert (Bobby). He later married Joyce LaVerne Hockin (nee Warren), in Fort Langley on August 14, 1987. Bob died October 13, 1987.
Seney, Gwen (nee Bowling)
Gwen Bowling was born October 13, 1923 to parents Frank and Nellie Bowling. She was a Harvest Princess in 1943. She married Milton Ainsley (Bob) Brown. The couple had two children, Teresa (Terry) and Robert (Bobby). She later married Roy Seney. Gwen passed away in 2007.
