Ellen is seated in front of him; she is wearing a decorative headband but no veil over her bobbed hair, and is holding a bouquet. The couple was married in Vancouver.

Monahan, Ellen Jessie (nee Smith)

Ellen Smith (later Monahan) was born to parents Ellen and Edward Smith in London, England on May 9, 1903. They emigrated from England with their children in 1906: Ellen Jessie, Sydney James, and Edward David. Frederick Smith was born in Boston, Mass, in 1917 when they had moved there. They moved to Vancouver some time later. Ellen married James Hugh Monahan in Vancouver on November 10, 1928. Ellen passed away on October 26, 1961.

Monahan, James Hugh, 1892-1954

James Hugh Monahan was born in1893. He was the son of Simon Monahan (1853- ) and nephew of Robert Monahan. He married Ellen Jessie Smith on November 10th 1928.
He built a house on Livingstone Road (232nd) and Fraser Highway.
James was a rifleman with the 260th Battalion during WWI.
He died July 25 1954 in Murrayville.
