Crompton, Charles Samuel Jr.
Charles Samuel Crompton Jr. was born on April 2, 1918 in Vancouver to Frank and Margaret Elizabeth (nee McClughan) Crompton. He is the brother of William Frank Crompton and Helen Crompton. Charles Samuel Jr. joined the New Westminster Regiment Division of the Home Reserve. He married Marietta (Rita) Dolores Botkin from Huronville, Saskatchewan on September 19,1945 and built a home along McClughan Road (88 Avenue). They had two children Linda Marie and Charles Andrew. Charlie found a job with the Langley Municipality where he worked for many years as well as farming his acreage in West Langley. Charles retired from the municipality and drove a truck for John Davies part time. In 1974, they sold the farm and moved to the Lac LaHache area of the Cariboo. They established a beef ranch at Murphy Lake for a few years. They eventually moved to a home on 3/4 acre lot in the 108 Ranch area. Charles died June 28, 1999.
Crompton, Frank
Frank Crompton was born July 7, 1888 at Warrington, Lancashire, England--the son of Arthur and Elizabeth (Fox) Crompton. In 1909, he emigrated with his family to Canada. They settled in Victoria for a year and then moved to Vancouver where Frank worked at various jobs including the City of Vancouver. Frank's parents bought an acreage in West Langley on Telegraph Trail and Frank came out on weekends to help build a house. On January 10, 1917, Frank married Margaret Elizabeth (nee McClughan). They settled in the Cedar Cottage area of Vancouver. After the war, they moved to West Langley and commenced farming. Their children are Charles Samuel, William Frank (Bill), and Helen. In 1953, Margaret became ill and died. In 1958, Frank married Ivy McVicar, widow of Archie McVicar. Frank died August 29, 1984.
