Title
The Zaharia House at 6844 200th Street in Willoughby.
Date
May 1998.
Description
Zaharia House, at 6844 200th Street. The house was built in 1947. Demolished ca. 2011.
People/Subject
Zaharia House
This house was located at 6844 200th Street and was built for Mrs. Zaharia by her son Dan Serheniuk in 1947, prior to second marriage in 1950 to Nick Zaharia. The basement was dug by hand. Much of the lumber used in the construction was milled on the west side of 200th Street. The house seems to have been built without plans. When there were plans for a second house on the property (possibly in the 1980s?) the owners were required to gut its interior to render it unsuitable for occupancy. It was used as a woodworking shop ca.1998, and was torn down in about 2011. The whole block, including the "newer" house on the property, was cleared in 2014 for development.
