Description

A 25 volume set of "The Encyclopaedia Britannica Dictionary of Arts, Sciences and General Literature." The books have blank green hardcovers with gold writing on the spine reading "Encyclopaedia Britannica / Ninth Edition." Below each book has its own volume number listed in Roman numerals, the first three letters of the words the volume covers, while at the very bottom of the spine they all read "R.S. Peale Reprint." The outside of the pages are coloured so that when closed the book pages have a red and green pattern. The title pages identify this set as "The R.S Peale Reprint with New Maps and Original American Articles by Eminent Writers." It was published in Chicago by R.S Peale & Co. with the publishing dates ranging from 1890 for volume 1 to 1892 for the index.

All copies have the same title, however, separated by volume in roman numerals and alphabetical range.
