People/Subject
Bailey, Alice Michell (nee Teague)
Alice Michell Teague was born in Yale on 17 Jul. 1876. However, family tradition indicates Alice was born 17 Jul. 1886 and her death certificate notes Alice being born abt. 1889. Regardless, 5 year old Alice shows up in the 1881 Census. Alice Michell Teague is noted as an honour roll student in Yale in 1889 (confirming that she was born before 1886). Alice's parents were William and Alice (nee Michell) Teague. Alice's father was an early settler in the Yale/Chilliwack area and owned a gold mine called "The Queen" in Yale, BC. Alice had a sister Charlotte who died in 1881 at the age of 9, and a brother who died at the age of three just over a week later. There were two other sisters: Nannie Prout Teague, who married Frederick W. Mackenrot in Yale in 1902, and Gladys, who marred Robert Chrane in 1918. On 24 Nov. 1910, Alice Teague married Walter Webster Bailey in Yale. They had at least one child, a daughter named Allie, who eventually married a man named Thomas Robertson. Walter died in Vancouver on 15 Dec. 1934 and Alice died in Vancouver on 15 Dec. 1946.
