1 matchbox : silver ; with an art nouveau engraved pattern. The matchbox has engraving on the bottom of the front of it that reads, "J. F. de M." The matchbox has a cap that is attached by a hinge on one end. The lip of the bottom portion can be seen when the cap is opened. There are small engraved hallmark symbols on the lip that are an ampersand, the letter 'S', a lion, a crest with three wheat sheaves with a sword in between them, and the letter 'C' with curled ends. The 'C' hallmark appears to symbolize that the matchbox was made in 1903 and the three wheat sheaves with a sword in between show that the matchbox was made in Chester, England. The bottom of the matchbox has a textured indented bottom with lines and half-circles in it. The top of the cap of the matchbox has a ring on it that has a 34.3 cm long chain clipped to it. At the end of the chain is a 3.5 cm long penknife with a floral art nouveau pattern engraved on the sides.
