Christensen, Carl Alfred
Carl Alfred Christensen, born about 1895, left his homeland of Denmark in 1911 and travelled to Chile for two years as a carpenter in the whaling industry. He came to Canada in 1914, and worked for the CPR in Calgary. Ending up in Langley, Carl was able to use his skills as a carpenter to help build Aldergrove Secondary School and the municipal hall in Murrayville. He also spent three years working on the Lions Gate and Pattulo Bridges. Nearing retirement, Carl took up farming. Carl had married Signa Mana Carlson of Sweden, and the couple had lived on Telegraph Trail for 45 years before moving to Aldergrove. Carl died at the age of 85 on December 1, 1980.
