1 Salad Plate : semi-porcelain ; 20.3 x 20.3 cm. This white salad plate is made by Alfred Meakin, and has the Harmony Rose pattern. There is gold detail around the outside rim of the plate. There is a faded pink and green rose pattern around the circumference of the plate. The bottom of the plate has a stamp in dark green reading "BY/ Alfred Meakin/ England" and a faded stamp in light green below that which reads "'HARMONY'/ ROSE." There is a circle of laurel leaves in gold with a crown inside and the words "ROYAL SEMI PORCELAIN." There are also two small gold marks on the bottom of the plate. This plate's rose and leaf pattern and gold are very faded: much of the pink roses have faded completely or have turned white. An impression of the cluster of roses and leaves in the centre of the plate is barely visible in the light. This plate has three chips out of the rim of the plate, two on one edge and one across from them. These chips have turned brown. Pieces in this series belonged to Dorothy (nee Wicken) and Russ Brown, or Dorothy's sister Edith Margaret Hawkins.
