Sperling School
The area, originally called Harmsworth, was named after R. H. Sperling. Sperling was the general manager of the BC Electric Railway from 1905-1914. The BCER had a station where the interurban line crosses 240th (Brown Road). The school, located at 74th Avenue and 240th Street, opened in the school year of 1923-4. The first modernization of the school came in 1934. More changes came in 1954, 1955 and 1957. The school closed in the early 1980’s.
