Born January 7, 1883 to Mr. William and Mrs. Ann Medd (nee Holding) at his grandmother's home on Telegraph Trail. His parents had been homesteading since 1876. He attended school in Langley and worked on his father's farm, which he inherited from his father in 1925. His farm was well known for its Holstein cattle, sheep, pigs and poultry. He enjoyed raising sheep in particular. He was an early member of the Fraser Valley Milk Producers Association. Ralph was not a traveler; he never spent a night not in his own bed save when he had to spend the night in the hospital for a minor illness. He rarely left Langley, and then only going to areas close by. He was married to Annie Mead. He had a step son, George Miller, and two step daughters, Florence Selzer and Harriet. He died unexpectedly on January 9, 1972 at a friends house in Masqui.

William Medd was born in 1847 in Yorkshire, England. He immigrated to Ontario in 1870, and came to Langley in 1875. On January 28, 1882, he married Ann Forsythe Holding. They homesteaded on Medd Road. They had children of Ralph, George, Levinia (Brown), Alice (Larmon), Edith, Annie (Brown), and John. William died on June 6, 1925.
