McKie [McKee], James (1841-1919)
James McKie [McKee, 1841-1919], from Belfast, Ireland, served as a marine in the Royal Navy for 11 years prior to arriving in Langley, B.C., with his brother, Robert McRoberts McKee (1845-1926). They each farmed 160 acres on the Salmon River just southeast of the Fort farm, and were 2 of the 29 petitioners who requested the incorporation of the Langley and Derby district into a municipality on March 23, 1872.
