Thomas Waterhouse built a modest cottage at 21834 40th Ave. in c. 1904. The house is known for its hip roof, turned wooden posts and gingerbread Gothic brackets. Several families occupied the residence after Waterhouse. These include: William and Hattie Thorn (1914-1938), Robert and Janet Robinson (1942-) and Mr. and Mrs. Mayo (1944-).
