Porter, Robert Roy
Robert Roy Porter was born on 25 May 1896, in Murrayville, to Margaret (nee Smith) and George E. Porter. He was P.Y. Porter's brother. Robert enlisted in the army, in the Canadian Forestry Troops, sometime in the first half of 1917. On June 21, 1917 he was transferred to the Canadian Railway Troops, and on August 11, 1917, he boarded a ship for England. He served as a sapper in the 6th Company, Canadian Railway Troops, throughout the war, and was discharged in Vancouver on April 1, 1919. He farmed after that, and passed away in 1963. He was buried in the Murrayville Cemetery.
