This item is an oval framed miniature portrait in a slim copper frame with convex glass (a). The portrait may be of Miss Althea Taylor (there was a note with the item stating her name), from 1883. She is wearing a Grecian/Regency style white dress and has curled brown hair. On the other side of the frame, also under convex glass, is a lock of human hair (Althea's?) fanned out in a decorative pattern and "gathered" at the bottom with three pearls and gold string. The hair is on a background of mother-of-pearl. The oval frame is in a brown cardboard and possibly leather box that has small gold hook clasps on the front (b).
