Description

The fonds consists of incomplete history notes on various people buried in Wallsworth Cemetery, Langley, B.C., a letter from Mrs. W. B. Dawkins to the Municipality of Langley regarding locationg the cemetery and graves of pioneers in what used to be called Fernridge, B.C., and sketched maps of rural lots in Langley, B.C. created in 1962 but photocopied in 1982.

Wallsworth Cemetery

Charles Henry Walworth arrived in the area now known as Campbell Valley Park and established a settlement in the 1880s. At the turn of the 20th century, members of the family contracted smallpox and were quarantined there. Two members of the family escaped the disease, burned their clothes and the bodies of the victims. Some members of the Jason Samuel Lewis family are also buried at the site. When it came time to complete North Bluff Road, a member of the Lewis family objected to the possible disturbance of the graves. As a result, North Bluff Road goes around the site.
