Norm Severide was born on August 14, 1923, in Vancouver, to Gunnar (1881/1882-March 17, 1954) and Frances May Severide, nee Dakin (1885/1886-August 6, 1976). He was raised at the family home in North Langley. In 1942 Severide joined the armed forces and served in the air force as a pilot. He began practicing in Vancouver with some of his classmates, but they soon opened a branch in Langley, for which Severide became responsible. He was joined at this branch by Maurice Mulligan. Norm married Iris Birchall in 1953 and the couple had two sons. In 1983, Severide was honoured with an appointment as Queens Counsel by the Lieutenant-Governor of B.C. He passed away at the age of 95 in 2018.
