Photograph of Harmsworth Hall, previously Springbrook School, at Livingstone and Springbrook Roads, getting new front installed by community volunteers; according to the Langley Advance the expansion was made to provide kitchen facilities for the hall; lumber for the hall was donated by the provincial highways department.

The photograph was found in an envelope from the company "Hart's Cameras" addressed to "J. Willson". The back of the photograph is mislabeled with the name "Lochiel School".

Springbrook School (Harmsworth Hall)

Springbrook School is now known as Harmsworth Hall. The school opened in 1923 and was purchased by the Springbrook Social and Improvement Society in 1935. The Hall sat on two acres which were donated by the Titmus family for the Springbrook School.
Marv Woolley recalls his mother and uncle, Bert Williams, both attended the school. Uncle Bert recalled going to that school as far back as 1896. Lawrence Alsager and the Marv Woolley removed the top layer of the fir flooring during the 1978 renovations and discovered the original school floor. They saw the patterns of the wood stove, teacher's desk, student desks, etc.
